Memorial Day… Remember Someone…
With Memorial Day approaching this Monday, we are enjoying a three or four day weekend. A weekend of celebration with friends & family, a celebration of the beginning of another summer and a celebration of dusting off the grill and attempting to become the world’s best outdoor chef!
We should be out there celebrating! Celebrating safely, keeping fires and grills a good distance from the house, without drinking and driving. There is one thing more that we ask this Memorial Day. We would like you to go to this website,https://www.travismanion.org/fallen-heroes and pick one Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine from the database and read their story. Read what they had accomplished, what their dreams were and what they had left behind. It is a sombering experience however it is also uplifting to know that person volunteered to join the service and believed in something… believed in this beautiful country and was willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice to ensure we have the freedoms that we have.
So, take the time this weekend, read of a fallen Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine. Lower your flag to half-mast the morning of Memorial Day until Noon. Celebrate in a local Celebration of Life/Memorial Service with a VFW or American Legion. You will feel the presence of the fallen around you and feel the shock of a 21 gun salute. Many of these volunteers at the Legion or VFW have stories of friends who were killed in combat next to them. Their stories are heart-wrenching, but in many cases, it helps them cope by telling the stories and remembering their friends/comrades. If you are unsure where to go for a memorial service, see this below for information:

So, in conclusion, the members and families of the Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy Memorial Day. We salute all of the fallen, respect all of the fallen by support the living.
Happy Memorial Day, have a fantastic, safe summer and remember, Cherry City VFC is “Always Ready, Always Willing”
