This evening, the volunteers were called to three calls for service during what seemed like a never-ending thunderstorm that started around 6:30PM and was still going when Bingo let out at 10! Unlike the wind storms earlier this summer, this storm was concentrated with heavy rains and a vivid lightning display! We were first alerted for a fire alarm in Etna Boro. While en route to that call, we were cancelled by Etna VFD stating it was a false alarm. Millvale VFD then requested assistance with a wire down near a busy intersection in their town. The Truck continued on to Millvale and assisted until Duquesne Light could arrive and cut the power. The third call was for a power line down on High St on the Etna/Shaler line. With the heavy rains and lightning, there was nobody injured or stuck in any flood waters! Remember, if you come across a downed line or cable, DO NOT TOUCH!
