The Cherry City VFC 2022 Christmas Party / Awards Banquet
Tonight, we took time out of running calls, training and fundraising to have a family night, celebrating 2022 and looking forward to our future here at Cherry City VFC. The Company was taken out of service for the evening and all calls were covered by our Mutual Aid Companies. For that, we thank those companies and look forward to paying it in return!
At our company Christmas party, the executive and fire officers like to show our appreciation to the members who go above and beyond for our fire company for the year 2022.
First, we would like to say thank you to Jim Delach who has decided to “hang his helmet” and retire as an active firefighter. He was an active firefighter for 47 years and held the rank of Assistant Chief during his time. Jim plays a big part in our executive side where he continues to serve as our Treasurer. Thank you Jim!
On the executive side, we honored members Rich Loch, Abby Duss, Mike Platz, Jim Welker, and Harry Imhoff for their dedicated service to fundraising for our company.
On the fire side, we dedicated those who ran the most fire calls, acquire high amounts of training hours and participate in behind the scenes activities here at the station that they do on a daily basis. Those Firefighters recognized as the Top 5 Firefighters of the year were Brennan Greene, Rich Loch, Hunter Boyle, Matt Ricci, and Shaun Nestler.
The Richard Zillweger Firefighter of the year award, which is awarded annually to a firefighter who exceeds his or her call of duty here at Cherry City. The award this year went to Firefighter Matthew Ricci. Matt has excelled in our fire company since day 1. He has been a major factor in what we do here at Cherry City and we couldn’t think of anyone better than Matt to receive this well deserved award. Congratulations Matt and keep up the great work!
And lastly, we honored those who put in an certain amount of time in the department and received a pin with the amount of service time on them. Thank you all for your dedication.
